Abusing another human being in the name of love is just wrong, and thus if you have just gone through this form of break up, good for you. There are some relationship skills that can help us get back our ex. One of these skills is how to make a Powerful, Deep Apology. This is a lot different than saying sorry til we are blue in the face. If you can apologize in a deep way, you can resolve mountains of hurt, sometimes in just minutes.

Now, relationships end for a lot of different reasons. But if yours ended because you did something hurtful to your mate, or you both did hurtful things to each other, sometimes you can get them back with a heartfelt, deep apology. However, most of us never learned the relationship intelligence to make a deep apology.

The first place to start with a deep apology is to admit what you did wrong. “I got drunk and said terrible things to you and I know my actions caused you a lot of pain.” That is how to admit a wrong. Don’t give a bunch of explanations or excuses or arguments. Just say what it is that you did wrong as clearly as you can.

By owning what you did wrong, you are off to a powerful start, aren’t you? You have demonstrated that you can be an adult and take responsibility. Rather than fight and say “It was your fault because of this, that and the other…” you have shown you can at least admit when you mess up. That often allows our ex to begin to consider forgiveness.

That is just the first step. The next one is even more powerful. Stop and ask your ex how they feel about what you did. Get them to talk! “How did my poor actions make you feel?” By letting them talk you allow them to get things off their chest, and this method is vital to them being able to forgive you.

This is a key to how to get your ex back. They left you because they have a lot of negative feelings about you in their heart. Their anger and hurt have covered over their love for you. You need to help them release these feelings. You do this by getting them to vent. Talking about them can help release them.

Hopefully, then, you can get them to shout at you for several minutes. This is a good thing! By getting angry and yelling, they are releasing the negative emotions, rather than holding on to them. It is like a glass full of murky fluid being emptied. Then they have room to love you again! There is more to the process of a deep apology, but this is a good beginning!
